In a captivating and transformative solo performance, Deborah Lemuel brought the dynamic piece "Unearthing" to life in Taiwan. As a long-evolving work choreographed by Ea Torrado, "Unearthing" is a living piece that continually transforms with the bodies it engages. Deborah, who was previously a member of the ensemble, embarked on a remarkable inside-out mind-body-spirit solo journey on stage, marking a significant moment in her artistic journey.

"Unearthing" is a piece that has been eight years in the making, a testament to its depth and evolution. It originally started as part of Sipat Lawin's Karnabal Festival for Social Performance Innovation and developed further in festivals and performance series across Manila and Japan. The work delves into the intricate relationship between the carnal and the spiritual, the sacred and the sexual. Through intuitive movement explorations, it progresses from the sensuous to the ecstatic and finally, the mythic. With each round of embodying, vocalizing, and breathing, Deborah breathed new life into this powerful creation.

The choreography, masterminded by Ea Torrado, is complemented by Joshua Timothy Gramaje's music and Anjeline De Dios' chants, creating a rich sensory experience for the audience. The performance excerpt by Deborah Lemuel was a captivating display of her artistry and a testament to the profound journey "Unearthing" undertakes.
