Daloy Dance Co. Dazzles in Leeroy New's Wearable Art at Elemento Exhibit

In a breathtaking convergence of movement, art, and innovation, Daloy Dance Company graced Ayala Triangle Gardens on December 2, 2023 for a mesmerizing performance adorned in Leeroy New's stunning wearable art. The remarkable event, a collaboration between Art House and Search Mindscape Foundation, unfolded as part of Elemento exhibit's grand opening.

The evening's centerpiece, Elemento's art installation by Leeroy New, powered by Liter of Light, stood as a testament to the captivating fusion of creativity and sustainability. Nestled within the Festival of Lights, organized by Make it Makati, the exhibit showcased not only the artistic brilliance of Leeroy New but also the commitment to illuminating the Makati landscape with eco-friendly ingenuity.

Daloy Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Ea Torrado, brought the wearable art to life with their evocative performance. The dance-theatre performance, combined with the enchanting wearables, created a visual and emotional spectacle that left the audience in awe.

The Elemento exhibit, curated by Ayni Nuyda and produced by Carlo Pineda at The Shops 2/F of Ayala Triangle Gardens, provided an immersive experience for attendees. As the evening unfolded, guests had the opportunity to explore and interact with the dynamic art installations, each telling a unique story within the larger narrative of Elemento 2023.

The dance artsits for this performance were Lorrie Figueroa, Edzy Art, Brian Abano, Jovin Lazaro and Eleina Kien Jimenez

The collaboration between Daloy Dance Company, Leeroy New, Art House, and Search Mindscape Foundation not only elevated the artistic landscape of Makati but also underscored the power of creative partnerships in fostering a vibrant cultural scene.

Behind the scenes, Gilianne Beraneza, the Production Manager for Daloy Dance Co., shares her insights and experiences:

Q: How was your experience being the Production Manager for Elemento Exhibit?

A: It was quite intimidating at first since this is one of my first projects as a production manager. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do a good enough job but I didn't want to let my colleagues down, especially with the trust that they put in me. It was an amazing experience to work with people who care so much about their craft, and it made me want to help and assist as much as I can.

Q: Is this your first time working with artists to perform in a public space? What do you like about performing in public spaces? What do you think makes it special?

A: I've had the amazing opportunity to attend performance artist Evamaria Schaller's workshop back in 2015. It opened my eyes to what performance art and public performances could be. What I love about performing in public spaces is we can never know what the spectator's reactions would be. Performers must be mindful of their surroundings at all times and must not be afraid to stray away from choreography in order to accommodate and interact with the spectators. On top of that, people of all ages, backgrounds, and upbringing come together and be one with the performers and that, I believe, is what makes the entire experience of public performances more beautiful and meaningful.

Gilianne's journey as the Production Manager for Daloy in Elemento exhibit not only reflects the challenges of stepping into a new role but also the rewarding experience of working alongside passionate individuals, who are all about co-creation and collaboration!
